@Kimochi_Channel@obbershobbs@TacticalNudes I think you mean shareholders. The execs absolutely knew it wasnt ready, they arent blind. They pushed it anyway cuz they fucked up with the deadline and direction, but needed SOME sort of return, whereas shareholders dont give af about games, only that they get an ROI.
@Kimochi_Channel@obbershobbs@TacticalNudes Both. Joe Dev and his co-workers fucked up on a project that will make or break their jobs, and the execs fucked up setting a deadline they should really know their guys cant keep. Its only a matter of time till more heads roll.
@locopuyo@MentisWave Right, back when it was ny mainstream. Now, though? It'd be like asking people to go back to Dial-Up speeds. Way more of an upset.
@Kimochi_Channel@obbershobbs@TacticalNudes Just because some can, doesnt mean they all can. Rockstar, for instance, has more money than God and can afford it. Bethesda has been dying for a while now, they absolutely cannot afford to delay releases. These layoffs could be seen coming a mile away, and arent surprising.
@locopuyo@MentisWave It may have been acceptable when the majority had nothing better, but that isnt the case anymore. You cant put the genie back in the bottle now.
@Kimochi_Channel@obbershobbs@TacticalNudes If any error on the devs part can be excused by "Well, the execs still shipped it." Then where do you draw the line? They need money to keep jobs, so either they ship on time and make not enough money, or dont ship on time and make no money. Either way, layoffs are happening.
@Kimochi_Channel@obbershobbs@TacticalNudes Did the heads tell the devs to make half the perks bugged and not work? Did they tell the designers to specifically design guns those ways? No, you cant pretend devs have no agency, theyre people and they make decisions when creating things, too. Source, I work in software dev.
@Jafet_Meza Not funny, just not surprising. They've been releasing straight dogshit for years and losing loads of money, of course theyre gonna have layoffs. Anyone remotely shocked hasnt been paying attention.
@TheActMan_YT@TemplarsRoar I mean, sure, it sucks people lost their jobs, but this is how the market has always worked. Bad quality products leads to business closure. The only real issue is the IP itself being tied down by Microslop regardless.
@Majora__Z@Wahofann95@Based_Project Welcome to every bad business ever. The execs stay > business continues to bleed > eventually goes under > everyone moves on. If you really care, dont buy from them, there are loads of other devs still doing good and delivering high quality games.
@cotorshas@Kimochi_Channel@obbershobbs@TacticalNudes Yes, but it also had massive issues in functionality, quest design, game mechanics, weapon design, perk functionality, etc. The devs arent incapable of doing a bad job, and pretending that they are infallible is ridiculous. No one did a good job.
@Kimochi_Channel@cotorshas@obbershobbs@TacticalNudes Exactly, it being a massive corp is exactly the problem. Too many cooks, too little money and the kitchen is fire. They all fucked it up, and now the best we can do is go to a different restaraunt. Thankfully, there's loads to pick from that still make good quality food.
@CorinthJax@TacticalNudes Blatantly not what Im saying and you've degenerated into Ad Hominems. You've conceded the argument, Im not gonna get anything more out of this. See ya.
@CorinthJax@TacticalNudes My first sentence in my first post in this thread was "The heads def need to go, too." My point has never been minimizing blame for execs, my point is they didn't fire enough. If I were one of the devs, Id see this as a blessing. Bethesda is a sinking ship, has been for a while.
@Kimochi_Channel@cotorshas@obbershobbs@TacticalNudes Arent they? Clearly the QA testing job done on the game was poor, and several object designs, guns especially, make no sense and are also bad. The heads made poor executive decisions while the devs did their jobs poorly, resulting in a bad game and bad sales.
@Kimochi_Channel@cotorshas@obbershobbs@TacticalNudes The devs arent mindless tools, and they most certainly arent infallible. Starfield, for instance, could have been amazing. Instead, we got the most soulless slop on the planet.
@CorinthJax@TacticalNudes They put out the orders, but they dont make the games. Again, they need to go, too, but you cant pretend like the devs are infallible and were just following orders.
