But if that money is going to sit in some investment account, then you should gamble the 1M because if you’re financially secure you can afford to lose.

If you’re going to use it just to invest, 50K at 7% compounding takes 44 years to reach 1M. Just gamble at that point.

@APompliano this graph is a totally different product than treasuries. this is a fund that tracks the performance of 20+ year treasuries, it behaves more like an equity than a bond. it is more sensitive to interest rate hikes, political events and supply and demand.

@tanyaelisabethh you can still be a mother and be a successful career person. unless your dream is to get to a position of political power/leadership in government/organisation, you will have time to find your person and have children later in life. it’s good for people to shoot for the stars.
