@archivejcm I think part of it is that early marketing for both Jane Street and the movie billed Hedwig as a trans woman (irregardless of her ending up quite clearly NB!) since the mainstream culture didn't really understand anything not binary. And that misinfo has just stuck with people.

John actually came out publically on IG last year and stated at the time that his pronouns were "whatever u wanna call me!"

Since that time, almost every article about him regarding the current Origin of Love tour, Joe Exotic, the Shortbus rerelease has mentioned this fact.
