Does his popularity sometimes overshadow how poor he actually is?

I’ve seen reports linking him with Southampton on loan, but personally I’d be reluctant to let him go just yet.

We haven’t seen him against PL opposition, so it’s difficult to judge.

For me, he’s in the same bracket as Mehmeti, Clarke & Greaves who are top end Championship players.

Unless we’re bringing in proven PL quality and experience, I’d keep him until the final weeks of the window. 🚜

Has had a cracking pre season and looks seriously sharp.

Still feel a Premier League squad role at Ipswich comes a bit too soon though.

A season long loan to a club like Celtic, Rangers, or somewhere abroad to get guaranteed, regular minutes would be the perfect next step for his development.

He’s got huge potential just needs to be playing week in, week out right now. 🚜

However, his injury record and lack of game time over the past year are worrying.

Still, getting picked for Argentina at the 2026 World Cup shows his talent.
