@MrJP07 That A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh books are still easily available in book shops alongside the commercial Disney adaptations proves that originals and adaptations can co-exist. Originals don't have to be shafted to make way for adaptations, which is what has happened to Awdry.
@MrJP07 The works of Dr. Seuss, Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton, P.L. Travers, and A.A. Milne are still popular today. There's no reason that the Rev. W. Awdry couldn't be as well. The TV series did a lot to help from the 80s to the end of the 90s, but since the 2000s, has done more to harm it.
@ScriptTrooper Toy Story 5 is not aimed exclusively at girls. The appeal of the Toy Story franchise has always been gender-neutral, and continues to be so with 5.
@teemu8888@JuliusCaesar108@ChristIsComing5 This specifies "as he lieth with a woman." A homosexual man would never lie with a woman, so lying with mankind as he lieth with a woman is not what he is doing. This is only against bisexuals. Homosexuals are in the clear.
@darwintojesus Atheists literally never claim that God is at fault for anything. If He doesn't exist, how can anything be His fault?
The way God is depicted in the Bible invites moral critique. Criticising the morality of characters from fiction doesn't require believing such characters exist.
@_ChristIsLord@darwintojesus No, there are not infinite answers to 2+2. The answer to that question has no equally credible competing alternative.
All gods are equal.
@sarahsalviander This is specifically about the Abrahamic God being portrayed as both all-perfect and all-powerful.
If God can prevent suffering but chooses not to, he is not all-perfect.
If God cannot prevent suffering, he is not all-powerful.
@sarahsalviander@ident_smithjohn "Extra-terrestrials" are a broad category. It's likely that another planet is home to intelligent life. If someone were to confidently argue for the existence of a specific extra-terrestrial race, they would need to back that argument up with evidence.
