Goes without saying but once the novelty of Hanley up front wears off it does lay bare the recruitment issues. Lowe injured, but when Bowie was sidelined you had Kuharevich coming in. Campbell would be a decent backup option but obviously he’s out on loan. Hanley ‘til er, Jan’ry?
McGrath and Elding works when the ball is on the ground & we have a bit of time - I know it’s makeshift.
I would imagine Matondo will come on, and as we’ve seen, there’s space in behind.

Once we got our press sorted, some ludicrous moments in that opening part of the game. Pressing in a 4-4-2 so have to be extremely cautious of Celtic overloading in the middle.
I think Klidje is struggling out on the left. Him & Mayor completely out of sync, he’s always looking…
…forward, passing with a bit of purpose. He’s even taken up good positions on the right side in our build-up to get the ball.
Goal we scored was quick thinking & a great finish, goal we conceded was comical. The 2nd Celtic goal was reasonably well worked & a good finish…

Well 😅….
I thought the Boyle / Passlack link was a bit of a positive last week & a good outlet today…
Newell with surely come into the no.6, with Chaiwa & Mulligan ahead. McGrath to the left, Klidje through the middle & Elding to the right would make most sense…
🤔

The one change we all expected, aside from that, Reedijk’s hands are still slightly tied.
As people know, I’m not convinced by Klidje on the left. McGrath will help Mayor in the build-up & will hopefully be useful out of possession, but that side worries me.
I think we’ll continue to build down the right, need to be brave going forward, there will be space in behind Celtic.

🔢 A number of Hibs players have spoken about Marink Reedijk trying to find their ideal position on the pitch. But what is the Dutchman's view on that process?
"At the end of the day, we look from the side and we don't know how it feels on the pitch.
"So we also need to grasp how it feels on the pitch, by talking to them about this – but also what moves them at this moment in time.
"It's a constant understanding of where they are, who they are. This helps in the process of getting closer to this way.
"But saying things and doing things are different sometimes.
"This is also a good time to see who are the ones who can do this, and put words into action, and who will struggle at this moment, and how can we help them to make sure that they can put the words into action."

@62Sauzee Totally agree with that. His movement, positioning, ability to carry the ball and actually get shots away is going to be really important.
Starting to have some fitness concerns with him but hoping he can kick on over these next few months!

🔎 Passlack & Boyle 🤝

@Daniel87332436 Agree. I think he’s making better movements but very non effective at the moment. I think been asked to get into the box is also causing him to perhaps play a bit further forward, anticipating an attack.

Azeem Abdulai was a surprise inclusion to the starting XI against Falkirk, joining Josh Mulligan and Miguel Chaiwa in the Hibs engine room. 🔎
'Abdulai's error before the opening goal will inevitably attract scrutiny. Yet the sequence also revealed what Hibs were trying to create.
'Had he controlled Chaiwa's pass, Klidje, Boyle and Elding were all positioned to attack a retreating defence.
'Instead, the ball rolled under his foot. Ryan Strain surged forward, released Jacob Murrell, and Falkirk were ahead.
'Several things went wrong in the move. Marko Ivezić reacted slowly, while Mayor's advanced position left little cover on the left. The turnover may have been Abdulai's mistake, but it exposed wider fragility.
'Caution is required before drawing firm conclusions. A handful of appearances and just one start tell us very little about Abdulai as a player.'
✍️ @9125analysis looks at Abdulai's role on Saturday, and what it tells us about Marink Reedijk's intended style of play.

Against Falkirk, Hibs enjoyed possession, pushed players forward and occasionally produced the combinations Marink Reedijk is looking for.
Too often, though, they looked uncertain.
