I don’t think the conversation has ever been about scale. It’s always been about reach and distribution.

Nigeria pioneered and dominates the romance scam industry, a type of scam that requires little to no expertise and has the lowest barrier to entry(literally a phone and an internet connection). It doesn’t target businesses or corporations but EVERYDAY people.

In the time and expertise it took Ibrahim Hilmi to pull off the $3.7B corporate scam, 100 boys of ages as low as 15 in Ikorodu would have “bombed” 5000 American women, with some “billing” and “cashing out” as low as $50.

Again, it’s about reach/distribution, not scale.

All the scams that has happened in Nigeria in the last 10 years isn’t up to $3.7 BILLION.

Stop thinking Nigerians lose VISA access because of issues like fraud or terrible press, the biggest reason is because we have a very low negotiating power as a country and our leaders are not doing their job.
