Today is the birthday of Oleg Sentsov — a Crimean, filmmaker, writer, Ukrainian soldier, and one of the strongest symbols of resistance to russia's occupation of Crimea.

When russia came to his homeland, he refused to stay silent.

They could not break him. In 2014, he was abducted in Simferopol, framed on fabricated "terrorism" charges, and sentenced to 20 years in a russian prison.

He endured five years of imprisonment, torture, and a 145-day hunger strike, yet his spirit remained free.

In 2019, he returned to Ukraine in a prisoner exchange.

Instead of choosing a quiet life, he took up arms to defend his country.

Today, he is a junior lieutenant and battalion commander in the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Magura."

He continues to fight for Crimea and for all of Ukraine on the front lines while documenting the truth about this war.

Oleg, you are living proof that even in the darkest times, freedom cannot be imprisoned.
