At times, a person may find an emptiness and darkness in their heart, a sadness whose source they cannot identify. What they may not realise is that the Qur'an—the fountain of happiness and the spring of the heart—rests untouched on their shelf, gathering dust. O my brothers and sisters, open the Qur'an, and you will uncover a happiness and peace you never imagined. How could one who takes the Qur'an as their companion ever be sad? And how could one who neglects the Qur'an ever truly be happy?
Indeed, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would supplicate to Allah, saying:
"O Allah, make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness, and the reliever of my distress." (Ahmad)
This supplication beautifully shows the power of the Qur'an to transform a person's heart. Just as rain revives dry land, the Qur'an brings life and happiness to the heart, taking away sadness and worry.
If the Prophet ﷺ, who was the best of mankind, asked Allah to make the Qur'an the spring of his heart, how much more should we, in our times of darkness and despair, turn to the Qur'an for comfort and guidance?
Let us, therefore, dust off our copies of the Qur'an, open its pages, and let its light fill our hearts and homes, so we may experience the joy and tranquility it brings.
