@CoryBMorgan If you don't want the chance of getting stuck in the mountains - get a flight next time.
Otherwise this is the reality of those of us who use this highway. It's outdated and in desperate need of updates and instead of bitching about things you don't know go push for upgrades.
@CoryBMorgan RCMP are not responsible for managing traffic or providing updates. That falls to MoTI and their contractors.
RCMP investigate and ticket/arrest accordingly and then leave. That is the entirety of their responsibilities.
@proudliblover@DriveBC@BCHwyPatrol They were offered a ride to sicamous were they not? The RCMP are not a taxi service, especially with these conditions they don't really have the resources. Sounds like they offered a ride back to safe haven where there was somewhere warm and dry to wait.
@proudliblover@DriveBC@BCHwyPatrol Revelstoke is not 15mins further, especially not in poor road conditions, and the RCMP members very likely responded from sicamous, thus they would need to return to sicamous.
@AlexGoatcher Here's to hoping... π€
Unfortunately they'll probably drop it in big urban centres in hopes of buying more votes at once but only time will tell...
@AlexGoatcher One federal vote for the national hwy in BC, and that vote is currently in the opposition
Oh, and a government that has flat out said 'we don't need to/won't spend money on highways anymore'
It'll take a Humbolt level disaster to spur any meaningful action on this highway
@AlexGoatcher They do go out to Rogers Pass on a regular basis (I'm not going to give away their hiding spots) . West of Rogers Pass is less well covered though.
