999eye is a software solution being developed by West Midlands Fire Service.
It will enable emergency services to see what is happening during a 999 call
Fire Control used the innovative #999Eye for this incident and because of the footage received from the caller, we increased the attendance whilst fire crews were still en-route to the incident. #innovation https://t.co/8ZMYuBlJ7A
Took Jack for a walk earlier and found some local youths had set fire to some rubbish. He was shocked that people do this. I called @SWMFireControl he's now learned how to make a 999 call and also how @999eye1 works too. Not bad for a 5 year old.
999eye helps reduce hoax calls, as it allows the control room to see the incident.
Hoax calls to the Scottish Ambulance Service have almost doubled in the past five years, new figures revealed that malicious emergency calls rose by 84% — from 881 in 2012/13 to 1,622 in 2016/17.
Video streaming is a key trend for 2018, 999eye offers a way to report incidents with a smartphone via streaming allowing operators to see instead of hear the incident.
