seeing the ai upscaled picture of mary's still life at the very end of the movie circulating around and thinking about the horror of how similar the backrooms and ai are in how they both operate like failing memories & misremembering details.

i saw the movie last night & these pics are ai upscaled which is (to me) another layer of the horror of the backrooms. it misremembers, it forgets details. i remember how the still life version of mary looks with her disfigured face, but the ai upscale can't. like the backrooms.

another really terrifying thing about kane's youtube backrooms series is the bacteria that, in the real world is pretty much harmless, but in the complex, it has mutated into something much deadlier and spreads its rot from the corpses lost inside the backrooms

felt my heart drop to my stomach during the entire found footage sequence especially this scene, the horror in trying to recreate memories but misremembering everything. vanishing into the floor, half-formed, disfigured, fleeting. the still lifes never quite getting it right.
