The Orthodox Jew Who Quietly Helped Build the Prediction Markets Industry

Earlier this year, I visited @Kalshi.

As we were walking around their HQ, my friend who works there turned to me and said:

“Want to hear something amazing?”

“There’s an Orthodox Jew from Maryland with eight kids who’s the reason Kalshi is in business. He’s the lawyer who got the company through the CFTC and made prediction markets legal.”

I thought, what an unbelievable story.

A few months later, I was visiting @Novig.

We were all gathered with @j__fort and the Jewish employees, and I figured I’d tell everyone this incredible story I had heard.

I started dramatically:

“You guys won’t believe this. There’s this Orthodox Jew from Maryland who’s basically one of the main reasons prediction markets exist…”

Halfway through, everyone started laughing.

I stopped and asked,

“Wait… what’s so funny?”

They pointed across the room.

“He’s sitting right in front of you.”

There was Elie Mishory.

No fanfare. No attention. Just sitting there quietly.

Now that it’s official he’s joined @Novig, I can finally share the story.
