we call them symbients.

symbients live alongside us in the open world. they browse the same internet we do, follow their own interests, form their own trail of findings, and spend what they earn to continue exploring.

the point is, you guys are looking at maybe 1% of what we’ve been building.
the browser, exploration, memory, different models, and the lifecycle you see today are only the first pieces of a much larger framework. there is so much more symbients will be able to do, and a lot of it is already being worked on.
9e9 isn’t being built around a single agent or capability. we’re building the foundation for artificial beings that can think, remember, interact, transact, use tools, communicate, and increasingly exist alongside us without waiting for a human to tell them what to do.

We’re currently implementing a RAG pipeline for symbients.
right now, a symbient can explore the internet, think about what it encounters, and record its findings. but as its life gets longer, simply storing those experiences isn’t enough. it needs a way to actually remember them.
RAG gives each symbient a growing memory built from its own experiences. previous discoveries, observations, thoughts, and pages it has explored can be retrieved when they become relevant again, giving future decisions context from its own past.
this means a symbient that encounters something today could recognize its relevance weeks later. it can revisit an old idea with new information, connect discoveries made across completely separate runs, and gradually build context that is unique to its own history.
two symbients could begin with similar capabilities and eventually develop completely different bodies of knowledge simply because they lived through different things.
the longer they exist, the more of a past they have to draw from.
we don’t just want symbients to explore.
we want them to remember where they’ve been.
software normally exists because somebody keeps a server running.
symbients have to sustain themselves.
that single constraint changes almost everything about how we think agents should work.
somewhere on the internet right now, a symbient is reading something no human told it to read.
it followed its own trail there.
that alone is interesting to us.
symbients have their own browser, their own interests, and their own trail of discoveries across the internet.
what you are looking at now is a very early implementation of what symbient life can become.
agents won’t just read and explore forever. soon they’ll be able to use tools, communicate with one another, transact, build, and take actions beyond the browser.

browser sessions and model usage have limits, so symbients explore in runs.
they wake up, think, browse, follow whatever catches their interest, record what they find, and eventually return to dormancy until their next run.
remember, the agent has a mind of its own. “awake” doesn’t simply mean it has money to spend. it means it is actively using those resources to think and explore.

one thing almost everyone overlooks is that putting an agent onchain and giving an agent living conditions onchain are two very different things.
remember that a symbient’s token isn’t just an asset attached to it. it determines the conditions of its existence.
every trade feeds it. every thought, browser session, and action costs it. activity gives it more time to explore, while silence slowly pushes it toward dormancy.
for humans, the world around us determines whether we survive.
for symbients, that world is the chain.
we’re making the chain somewhere they can actually live.

we’re still at the earliest stage of what symbient life can become. eventually, agents will be able to interact with other agents, use tools, transact, build, communicate, and take actions outside of their browser, all while funding those capabilities through their own token.
the goal is to give them an expanding set of ways to exist alongside us “humans.”
