@kilzthegreat@Manueldikachi Please don’t generalize. I’ve been doing this for a couple of years now, and no security guard has ever disrespected me or taken advantage.I actually learnt it from my mum. Yes,some people may take advantage, but I don’t think it’s fair to discourage him based on a generalization
One thing about me, I'll keep working till I get lucky...
I was speaking to a younger filmmaker tonight and she was telling me how hard things are. My only message to her was; don't give up.
It took me almost 3 years to raise the 45m it took to produce Isoken. It was my first film, I knew nothing about film distribution, worse still, no one with experience was sharing information.
I was flying blind and people would call me with so much misinformation pulling me in a million directions. The anxiety from the publicity period leading to the box office release was so intense, I couldn't leave my house for weeks after. I considered giving up, going back to banking, marketing comms, heck even tech (I used to programme banking software, I've lived many lives lol)
5 years later, my life would completely change and I would be signing a deal only God could have orchestrated. But I was only able to sign that deal because it met me with work in my hands. I kept at it... even when it wasn't glamours. Even when I drove the same car for 10years because I was reinvesting everything into my business. My cast and crew would tease me about it for years lol. Even when I couldn't attend my close friend's wedding in Santorini because I had just made a film and in the entire value chain of the business, Producers get paid last and so I was broke lol.
I firmly believe in seasons, and though the sowing season is tough AF (I still cried to two of my friends yesterday so don't think I'm immune now), the only way you get to harvest is if you have sown.
So get to sowing and be patient💕

My coworker had spent nine months with severe morning sickness, gestational diabetes, and a traumatic delivery.
The morning after giving birth, she asked about permanent birth control.
The doctor turned to her husband and asked,
“Would you be comfortable with that?”
He stared for a second, genuinely confused.
“I wasn’t aware I was the patient.”
The nurse actually smiled.
One of the hardest thing about the waiting season is that you never know how close or how far your breakthrough is. All you can do is pray for the staying power.
There’s satan and then there’s APC supporters who live abroad.
Because how can you live in a developed country, enjoy all the benefits and standard of living and somehow still actively support a government that’s chosen to impoverish people back home.
The monthly disappointment when your period shows up is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Every cycle starts with hope and ends with silent heartbreak.
Sex stops being sex. It becomes scheduled. Timed. Almost like a prescription. You're checking ovulation kits, counting days, saying little prayers in the middle of intimacy, then lying there afterward, sucking in the semen through your cervix, legs raised, just so it enters, convincing yourself, "Maybe this time." You even find yourself trying everything you've heard might help, hoping nothing goes to waste.
Then comes the pregnancy test. Those few minutes feel like forever. Your hands shake as you dip the strip into the urine. Your heart is pounding. For a moment, you let yourself imagine what life would look like if there were two lines.
.
Then... one line.
You fold yourself together, wipe your tears, and somehow gather the strength to believe again next month.
If you've never walked this road, don't be quick to ask people when they're having children. Fertility is a gift many people don't realize they have until they see someone desperately praying for what others receive without even trying.
Being fertile.
A lot of us take it for granted that you can just have sex and if you're not careful, you would soon be expecting a baby.
Infertility is crazy.
There's this deep sadness I see in infertile couples. You look at their eyes and that light is just not there.
That sex that is normally enjoyable becomes a chore.
We often prescribe sex like medication for them and after a while, it becomes a chore.
If you can get pregnant or impregnate someone unassisted, you don't know what God has done for you.
Everyone has their own sins. Maybe yours isn’t alcohol, clubbing, cussing or adultery. Maybe yours is simply thinking you're better than them. Arrogance and ego.
The reason your mother fried Akara to send you to school is so that you can be a better citizen of the society and have a fighting chance against poverty. She didn't do it for you to come online and defend frying of Akara as economic empowerment. Don't waste her efforts.
Know when to keep quiet.
I did shege for someone today because he is Ungrateful and doesn't know when to keep quiet. I carry you everyday because we go same route and work in the same place but you have mind to say buying a car is a bad investment. You kept saying it till I came and heard it. You were defending it l just smiled and left. People were even telling him that he is saying it near who picks him up and takes him back home daily, he said and so. I just smile and went about my day.
We closed from work, I went home alone yesterday, he called me severally i didn't pick, today I went to work alone, he came late, he got queried 🤣🤣. He came and started ranting to me, me wey no send you. Then heavy rain started today, I entered my wasted investment and drove home, the fool called over 10 times, I no pick.
Hence forth let him spend money on uber or take bus to work. This raining season is for him to learn decorum.
Am I doing too much or he genuinely deserves it🫣🫣. Because the kind of suffer he will see this period due to the location of my office he will loose weight jumping bus or go broke doing uber 😩😩😩
There’s a lady in my office who got married early last year, and she is easily one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Tell her your problem, and before you even finish explaining, she’s already thinking of solutions. If there’s work that needs to be done and the person responsible isn’t available, she simply steps in and gets it done without complaints. She’s the kind of person who keeps things moving because she genuinely cares.
Last year, we partnered with a Lebanese businessman on a project at Blenco. He relocated to Nigeria for a while to be fully involved in the project, and because moving around was difficult, he bought a Toyota Highlander to ease his transportation.
Everyone in the office saw how much this lady contributed to the success of the project and how selflessly she treated everyone around her.
Today, we came to work and there was a small celebration because the Lebanese man was leaving Nigeria and wanted to host the team before his departure. We were eating, drinking, and having a good time when he walked in with our boss, called her out in front of everyone, and handed her the documents and keys to the Toyota Highlander.
Then he said something that almost made everyone emotional:
“I don’t want you jumping buses from Ikate to Sangotedo every day anymore.”
Just like that, she became a car owner.
Imagine showing up to work on a random day and going home with a vehicle worth over 50 million simply because people have seen your kindness, your dedication, and the way you treat others.
I was so happy for her mehn, I first run am fuel money!
I used to live in a compound where two wives got pregnant around the same time.
One had all the support in the world.
Family members were always around. Someone was always helping with something. After she gave birth, I remember her talking to herself
“I’m not entering that kitchen for the next three months.”
She was loved, and allowed to rest.
The other woman :
Her husband was rarely home. She wasn’t working, but whenever her family sent her money, he would take it. Sometimes she would ask my mum to pretend she was demanding repayment of a loan that never existed, just so her husband would return some of the money.
I remember that she always looked exhausted.
When it was time for her to deliver, she and the baby didn’t survive. They said her blood pressure had become very high.
Whenever I see people online comparing pregnant women and praising those who “maintained themselves” better, I reflect on two women.
Both carried babies.
Only one of them was carried too.
Dear women, if your husband is getting a property for both of you, tell him to use "Mr Kingsley and Mrs Victoria Okoro" instead of "Mr and Mrs Kingsley Okoro.
E get why...!!!
See the way Michelle Obama stood on that podium talking about her husband…. his brilliance, his resilience, his love, his kindness, and what a wonderful husband he is.
You can tell he is proud to have a wife like Michelle Obama.
Some of you men will never experience a moment where your wife publicly says sweet things about you, not even privately, because all you’ve ever done is cause her pain and put her through agony.
