He has helped to create an anti-racism course, written a successful grant proposal, crafted communication guidelines and provided feedback on school wide diversity action plans. He is also the Chair of Operations for AVDS where he has done more amazing work!

We are very excited to announce that AJ Mitchell has won our annual Elevate Award! This award recognizes an individual who has catalyzed positive change in cultivating a more equitable and inclusive environment within the research community.

AJ is a Ph.D Candidate in the Behavioral Neuroscience Department, where in addition to all his duties as a graduate researcher, he serves on his department's diversity committee and has been integral to many aspects of their work.

An upcoming bookclub will read a chapter of a book (just like old times). On February 3rd, we'll be discussing Ch. 5 of The Beauty in Breaking. It's a good time to request the book from your local library or the library at OHSU. DM for the link or assistance getting the book
