Just going to put it out there that inaction on climate has not been due to governments being insufficiently informed. This is, after all, the *SIXTH* IPCC assessment report. The inaction is due to:
1) corruption by fossil fuel lobbies
2) lack of popular movements to counter it.
'Climate change widespread, rapid, and intensifying'
Today's report from the #IPCC paints a stark picture of our current situation and highlights how much works needs to be done.
But it contains an important message of hope 🌍

"If you need any argument as to why we need to reduce the number of cars on our streets it's because our most vulnerable citizens are being robbed of their childhood because our cars are more important than they are."

When I first moved to Leeds the new cycle infrastructure on Cookridge St was just a paltry *metre* of protected cycle turn lane, the new track shows just how far Leeds has come in less than a decade

Wildfires, floods, droughts, heatwaves and other (un)natural disasters rage all over the world.
Many now ask "What will it take for people in power to act?".
Well, it will many things, but above all it will take: massive pressure from media and massive pressure from the public.
It's taken 4 years but a real milestone for active travel. Well done @BritishCycling @martinkeyBC @kirsty_mccb and @scottdougal 👏👏👏👏 https://t.co/22AZmq6U6w
"The Highway Code currently treats children walking to school and lorry drivers as if they are equally responsible for their own or other people's safety. These changes will redress that balance." @sedwards1976 @livingstreets https://t.co/Q3P44jOosU

More evidence on benefits of low traffic areas a 'wisely used idea in other countries': The greatest reduction in injuries was among pedestrians and people in cars

Do read our blog about the lost decade 2010-2020 in the struggle to reduce serious and fatal casualties on UK roads. What works is well known and it is time for the UK Gov't to support the efforts of many Local Authorities to reduce the casualty toll.
