You may have noticed large safety fences along the A82, south of Drumnadrochit.

These are in place to catch any falling rocks or debris as our contractors work along the steep hillside over Loch Ness.

Harvesting operations along A82 are re-starting in early November.

This season we will be operating on a site 4 miles south of Drumnadrochit and will have traffic management on site.

Don't forget that traffic management has been set-up in anticipation for the start of this season's forestry operations.

The red-to-red light system is located currently 4 miles south of Drumnadrochit.

Traffic Management will be in place on the A82 at Grotaig from 19th September while we erect the next section of safety fences to protect the public and our workforce.

That’s a wrap! Our A82 harvesting work finished its first season last week.

We will be resuming work autumn 2022.

Did you know that our contractors often use just a chainsaw, wedges or a jack, and a mallet to chop down even our largest trees?

Traffic is stopped once the tree is prepped. Fencing, creates a barrier between the work and the road below.

This giant Douglas fir is almost 94 years old.

Though it’s sad to see it go, we are making room for an ancient woodland reserve.

All going well with our work at Grotaig. Some big trees already down!

680m of catch-fencing now completed ahead of next phase of felling at Grotaig (October). Traffic management lifted - but back for a few days next month as we finish work on the forest road.

400 metres of catch fence now complete (despite a one week shut-down for COVID) and a further 200m due to be competed in next couple of weeks. Then just some anchor adjustments to do on existing rock netting before felling commences in October.

A reminder that A82 operations will be resuming this week as catch fencing goes up (11 May - 30 June) before steep ground felling in October. TM in place (5km south of Castle Urquhart) - only when required - for short, 10 minute stops.
