I just realised something crazy.
India's GDP was $700B in 2004, and it reached $2.1T by 2014. 3x in 10 years. It's been 12 years since then and our GDP is $3.9T. 3x toh choro, we've not even been able to 2x our GDP in 10 years LOLLL.
He brought class & intellect to the table while dealing with global leaders and tackle economy.
Not afraid of random press conferences anywhere. Never spent a penny on his PR.
If such a leader was in full majority, we actually would have progressed a lot. That time had flaws but it was a good period and people had hopes.
Another myth just like the story about the US denying GPS to India during Op Vijay (Kargil).
GPS is a purely passive system. It works on pseudo ranging. The receivers receive data from multiple satellites (4 satellites for resolving 3D position and time) and work out their own position. No transmission by the user is needed.
Another statement I have read many times (including in some reputed defence journals) is that the US “denied” GPS to India during Kargil thus making us initiate the case for NAVIC. I’m not sure how this story came about.
Non military (US / NATO) GPS sets (till May 2000) operated under the US Selective Availability (SA) policy, which deliberately degraded civilian accuracy *worldwide* to roughly 100 meters horizontal (versus the much higher military precision). India was not uniquely singled out. SA was a standing global feature of GPS (including for US based civilian users) from the early 1990s until President Clinton ordered it turned off in May 2000.
Even during Kargil, civilian GPS signals remained available globally. Indian forces too used commercial/handheld GPS receivers (including units fitted into some aircraft).
I’m not sure if India ever asked for the precision code for targeting during Op Vijay. It is highly unlikely as at that time, India was under US sanctions (after India’s 1998 nuclear tests. Under the Glenn Amendment), which restricted military sales, equipment and technical assistance to India. So at best, Military-grade GPS (encrypted Precise Positioning Service / P(Y) code) was not provided to India. I’m not sure how the stories about GPS being “denied” to India came about. Selectively denying GPS to a particular user / group of users is also not technically feasible. It can be denied (by the US) or even jammed / spoofed (by anyone not just the US) with the right equipment *over an area*…but that again cannot be country specific.
This a paid PR campaign going on to target & harass students who were part of the protests at Jantar Mantar. From doxxing to witch-hunting, it is now the mainstream media and right wing accounts which have taken charge on behalf of the government.
You guys have utterly lost the plot (that is if you had any). How about a few #WATCH videos from homes of kids who took their own lives because of the paper leak? Or from the traumatised kids’ families who were watching the brute might of the state unleashed on their children?
Masterstroke: IAS officer Naresh Pal Gangwar, whose family allegedly involved in the cucumber subsidy scam, has been appointed the country's new Education Secretary.
A❤️ love letter to ISRO/DoS/Govt of India:
NAVIC Desi-GPS is dead
Repeat PSLV failures in strategic missions. Reasons kept secret
13 ISRO launches listed for ongoing FY; not 1 has flown
Gaganyaan G1 delayed by many years
Talent is quitting ISRO
At this rate, Future ???
Over the years, we’ve bled
talent, scientists, technicians, reactor engineers trained by the Gods at OKB Afrikantov… but no brain drain as big as the loss of this single visionary scientist Cmde (Dr) Arogyaswamy Paulraj- naval sonars, MIMO that laid the foundations of 4G, 5G…it’s like losing a Dr APJ Kalam at the start of his career.
