Earlier today as Local Observer, I visited polling stations in Qardho, Puntland, where voters were electing their local district council. It's the first 1P1V election after 53 years in south of Somalia. Delighted to see various women voters & election workers.

To uphold the rights of citizens as per the constitution and protect integrity of the upcoming election, Regional leaders' unlawful appointment of Senate candidates should be relinquished; otherwise as seen in 2016 we will again witness rigged Parliamentarian seats. 2/2

Any prejudiced intervention by IC to Somalia's status qou will not succeed, that's what the recent history boldly teaches us. Look back to IC's involvement in power conflicts b/w Gen. Aided & H.E Ali Mahdi; Islamic Courts & TFG. Were those meddlings successful? 1/2

My advice; let's not worsen the already hostile situation and just keep its level as a matter between Somali politicians, let's not make sovereignty of our nation a weapon of propaganda which is an unacceptable manoeuvre to many Somalis. 2/2

It's shameful and disgusting that some Somali Scholars are requesting publicly to invoke Chapter 7 of UN Charter on #Somalia. This translates to the political impasse becoming a sovereignty and freedom fighting struggle between Somalis and IC which can cause a new conundrum. 1/2

FGS & FMSs leaders should convene only during the formal consultative conference after their rep. technocrats solve non-political issues. Leaders should differentiate politics & technical issues, choose deal over conflict & continue meetings for the success of #Somalia. 2/2

Failed preliminary meetings of FGS and FMSs is the aftermath of the leaders' intentions of politicizing technical issues. Agenda of the formal meeting should be digested by a technical committee similar to the technocrats produced by Baydhabo deal. 1/2

For these reasons, opposing leaders don't have any exit or escape option; either they will SUCCEED together or will FAIL together! AGREEMENT is the only way forward. Somalia's success is the only option. 2/2

After weeks of sideline meetings, now it seems there is no progress towards current political impasse. As often said, if the electoral agreement is reached through CONSENSUS, opposing leaders should know they would be MUTUALLY RESPONSIBLE for the aftermath of this impasse. 1/2
