This newly released video, captured more than 50 km downstream from the site of the glacier collapse, shows the rapid arrival of the flood wave, obliterating everything in its wake.
Do you black out from being instantly crushed by the speed & pressure of a whole mountain + buses & buildings liquifying around you before you feeling it?
Do you get rushed away in a cascade of sound & debris & then it all goes dark?
Do you slowly then quickly drown?
Why the F-22 Raptor's Flight Control System (FCS) Was Decades Ahead of Its Time? 🤯
In most 4th-gen fighters (like F-15/16), the elevators, rudders, and other control surfaces primarily operate under predefined control laws.
The Raptor's Digital-FBW (aka DFBW) FCS continuously calculates the aircraft's state hundreds of times every second, then determines the most efficient control response.
The pilot commands the aircraft, and the FCS determines how to achieve it.
And the FCC (flight control compt.) doesn't rely on a single input either..It continuously processes AoA, IAS, Mach no., pitch rate, roll rate, yaw rate, normal acceleration, engine status, and control surface positions before issuing control commands.
So its very clear that every decision is made in real time, under the command of pilot.
The biggest leap of F-22 cames from control integration. Bcz, instead of treating aerodynamic surfaces and engine nozzles as separate systems, the FCS blended them into a single control architecture. To the computer, elevators, flaperons, rudders and TVC all become control effectors.
This meant the FCS could automatically decide whether a maneuver should rely more on aerodynamic forces, vectored thrust, or a combination of both.
Plz don't misidentify it but the pilot never selects this. the software optimizes it continuously throughout the flight envelope.
