#Africa needs #infrastructure and #climate financing with timelines of 30–50 years, yet Multilateral Development Banks often provide short-term, high-cost loans.
MDBs must evolve to align with Africa’s development timeframes.

Domestic resources account for over 75% of #Africa’s development financing, yet inefficiencies and illicit financial flows result in $500–$600 billion in losses annually.
An integrated DRM approach is central to Africa’s fiscal independence.

Africa's tax collection costs are 60% higher than in Asia and 32% more than in Latin America, due to fragmented systems and limited digitalization. In 2021, only 0.24% of ODA to Africa supported tax system improvement.

🌐 Highlights from the TLIP Panel at the IOTA East Africa Web3 Innovation Summit 📦
As a follow-up to my earlier posts from today's IOTA East Africa Web3 Innovation Summit, I’m pleased to share highlights from the insightful discussion panel discussion I was part of on the Trade Logistics Information Pipeline (TLIP) — a foundational innovation for digital trade in East Africa.
🔍 TLIP, developed by the IOTA Foundation and TradeMark Africa, is an open-source, decentralized infrastructure that enables real-time, verifiable trade data exchange across borders. Already live in Kenya, TLIP is addressing inefficiencies in customs, logistics, and compliance — and providing a scalable model for trusted digital trade across the continent.
🎙️ Panel Topic: “TLIP: Transforming International Trade”
👩🏽💼 Expertly moderated by Shiro Ann Mbiruru, Communications Director, TradeMark Africa — guiding the conversation with depth, balance, and precision.
👥 Panelists & Key Themes:
✅ Caroline Tabitha (Kenya Revenue Authority - KRA) – Shared how digital tools like TLIP are modernizing customs operations and improving compliance.
✅ James Kagiri (DB Schenker Kenya) – Spoke on evolving client expectations in freight & logistics, and the need for inclusive access to digital trade platforms.
✅ Edwin Wanyama Ngero (KenTrade) – Highlighted the measurable impact of Kenya’s Single Window System and its interoperability with platforms like TLIP.
✅ Njoki Muthuuri (Mamlaka Hub & Spoke) – Addressed the trust gap between government and private sector, and how interoperability is key to scale.
✅ Myself – Moses Kemibaro (Dotsavvy) – I spoke on the evolution of innovation in global trade and how Web3 technologies are creating new opportunities for SMEs and regional digital trade integration.
💡 Key Takeaway: TLIP isn’t just about digitizing documents — it’s about transforming how we trust, verify, and collaborate across the trade value chain. In one pilot, Kenyan exporters were able to transmit verified export documentation to UK customs in under 5 minutes — a radical shift from the weeks-long delays of legacy systems.
🙏🏿 A big thank you to TradeMark Africa's Erick Sirali for inviting me to be part of this timely and impactful session.

Happy Africa Day! 🤝🏾🌍✊🏾
Today is a reminder of what we’ve overcome as a continent and as a people, and what we still need to work on, together.
In 2025, the focus is on reparations. Not as a handout. But as justice, as repair, and as dignity restored.
And you're a big part of that work this year!
The @AU_ECOSOCC Citizens’ Forum 2025 is coming up and we invite you to be part of real conversations and policymaking on reimagining #democracy and #reparations. Registration will be officially announced soon but because it’s #AfricaDay, you get early access!
