Saudi Airstrikes Turn a Family Lunch into a Massacre in Saada: 10 Killed and 23 Wounded, Most of Them Women and Children

The family lunch never took place at the home of Ali al-Qahm in the Al-Tawilah area of Sahar District, Saada. Thirty-three people, most of them women and children, had gathered for a family occasion. As they were preparing to eat, Saudi warplanes launched airstrikes at midday, reducing their home to rubble and turning the joy of their reunion into a bloody tragedy.

Amid the ruins, cries for help mingled with the groans of the wounded and the shock of local residents. Ambulances from the Republican Hospital and vehicles mobilized by residents rushed to the scene, while rescue workers and locals struggled to find survivors and pull victims from beneath the debris. The complete destruction of the house made the rescue operation extremely difficult, delaying efforts to reach those trapped underneath. Fragments of American bombs were also present among the rubble at the scene of the attack.

Ten people were killed, including five children and three women, while twenty-three others were wounded, most of them women and children. The tragedy extended from the ruins of the family home to the wards of the Republican Hospital in Saada, where the injured lay in hospital beds with wounds of varying severity, some critical. Children's small bodies bore the devastating impact of shrapnel and injuries, as the entire family was left confronting an act of horrifying brutality.

There was nothing in the Al-Qahm family home but relatives gathering to share a meal, before Saudi airstrikes tore them apart, leaving some dead and others wounded. Another crime committed by Saudi forces using American bombs. The world merely watches the suffering of Yemenis, yet raises its voice in outrage when they seek to avenge their loved ones and retaliate against those responsible for twelve years of such crimes.
