Many people today earn their wealth through ḥarām means and then use that same wealth to feed, clothe, educate, and raise their children, hoping that Allah will place barakah in their lives. This is a dangerous contradiction. Parents who knowingly consume and spend from unlawful earnings should fear Allah and repent sincerely. They should not endanger their own souls or burden their children with wealth that Allah has forbidden. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught us that Allah is Pure and accepts only that which is pure. A life nourished by ḥarām can never be a foundation for true barakah.

This is one of the major reasons our nation continues to struggle. Too many people are obsessed with making money, while too few are concerned about whether their earnings are lawful or about the harm their actions inflict on others. The love of wealth has blinded many hearts and weakened the fear of Allah.

As a result, some manufacture counterfeit or substandard medicines that endanger lives. Others sell adulterated or contaminated food, produce fake and inferior products, or deceive customers with false claims. Some artisans betray the trust of those who hire them by cutting corners and delivering poor workmanship. Some public officials, including law enforcement officers, abuse their positions for bribery and extortion. Some traders reduce weights and measures despite Allah's severe warning against such practices. Even more tragic is that some who claim to serve the religion compromise the commands of Allah, neglect their acts of worship, or exploit the faith for financial gain. When wealth becomes the highest priority, truth, justice, compassion, and accountability are often sacrificed.

If money alone becomes the measure of success, our nation should not expect lasting peace, justice, or prosperity. A society built on greed, deception, and injustice cannot enjoy Allah's barakah, regardless of its material wealth. Real progress begins when people fear Allah more than they love money.

Let us therefore cultivate genuine love for one another, conduct our affairs with honesty and integrity, and place our complete trust in Allah for our sustenance. Whatever Allah provides through lawful means, even if it appears little, is far better than vast wealth acquired through disobedience. A small amount blessed by Allah will benefit us in this world and the Hereafter, whereas unlawful wealth only brings anxiety, regret, and accountability before Him. May Allah grant us lawful provisions, fill our lives with abundant barakah, purify our earnings, and protect us and our families from every form of ḥarām. Āmīn.
