Thank you to the Acquired Brain Injury Survivor Solutions @ABISS08 for sharing your stories. You can hear from real Ontarians who have suffered through our brutal and unfair auto insurance system here https://t.co/0cDLWLaflC #truthaboutinsurance#onpoli
FSRA is holding a 90-day consultation on its proposed rule and is seeking feedback from the general public and all stakeholders. For more information, please visit: Public Consultation for Proposed Unfair or Deceptive Practices or Acts Rule.

ABISS is very honoured to receive the 2020 OTLA Safety Leadership Award. We thank them for their recognition of our work and for their encouragement and support.
@FAIRAssociation @ABISS08
This is interesting in the context of ON auto insurance defence lawyers who routinely see all manner of sketchy tactics being deployed by their colleagues in the effort to wrongfully deny/delay (aka bilk) vulnerable, seriously hurt car crash victims.
ABISS's @Davehgaylor writes about our survey and how we as consumers deserve greater accountability and better treatment from auto insurers (The Hamilton Spectator, Nov 13)

Collisions are down, premiums are up, and the basic auto coverage is not adequate for injured accident victims. OTLA Board Member Nainesh Kotak @KotakLaw explains more here

@ABISS08 The Fifth Estate once profiled 3 ON auto accident victims who suffered ABI & the insurers'/assessors' (mis)treatment. An assessment firm filed a defamation lawsuit muzzling the CBC (no re-airing of program). The decision is a long but informative read.

@ellenroseman Thanks, Ellen and FAIR for bringing attention to our work. If you'd like to learn more, our survey has some great information! https://t.co/8DoWWRea1s
@ABISS08 Rather than "support you"; your ON auto insurer will likely send you to one of their "preferred vendors" of medico-legal second opinions. Though your treating physicians will have diagnosed an ABI - the insurer doctors - more often than not - will call you a symptom-exaggerator.
Every 3 min in Canada, someone will sustain an Acquired Brain Injury.
If a collision caused that injury, will your auto insurer be there to support you?
"All I wanted was to get the help I needed..." said one of our survey respondents.
Employment can be upended in so many ways, Covid-19 has been a massive disruptor. Happy to see that the Canadian gov't is stepping up. Another long-term disruptor is a traumatic brain injury caused by a motor vehicle collision. Will the Ont gov't step up too?
(Now if only the provincial government would follow suit and increase the income replacement benefit for car accident victims that has been stagnant at $400/wk for over a decade...) #TruthAboutInsurance
New Recovery Benefits will provide $500/wk for 26 weeks to those who aren't eligible for EI, are isolating due to COVID, or are stuck at home caring for a child/family member.
We would like to thank everyone who took part in our survey. More than half of all respondents shared additional comments and criticisms of Ontario's auto insurance claims process. Take a look at the infograph. A word's size matches its frequency. https://t.co/H18vjgfsvb
Read the full report. "The current insurance process in Ontario is a human rights breach...I have been repeatedly gaslit, followed, maligned and shamed by the insurance company." https://t.co/1qTzsm2BrQ
