An amazing photo of a Red Bat this weekend from a follower in Taber, AB! Excellent example of camouflage (the background shape is a dead leaf). Greyish-red fur indicates this is likely a female. Likely enroute to southern wintering areas! #RareInAlberta#RedBats#AlbertaBats
If you are out and about make sure to keep your eyes peeled for this week's #SpeciesSunday, the Elusive Clubtail #Dragonfly, appropriately named since it is elusive and difficult to spot. @ABbiodiversity@ABMINatureLynx@inaturalist

Prior to Alex’s sighting, the only #AB record of the Elusive Clubtail was on the #ClearwaterRiver near #FortMcMurray in 2012.
Alex is inviting ppl of #YEG to share their dragonfly sightings to try and generate more detections of this rare species

Rare dragonfly exuviae spotted along North Saskatchewan in #Edmonton by Alex Lapierre, @ABbiodiversity invertebrate technician.
These exoskeletons belonged to the Elusive Clubtail (Stylurus notatus), a new species for Central Alberta! (1/3)
The Elusive Clubtail is aptly named as it's notoriously difficult to find. It flies over large water bodies to feed and almost never perches. When it does, it perches high in the tree canopy. Sightings across its range are rare, and are few and far between in western Canada (2/3)
We're so excited about Family Nature Nights that we put out billboards! The 1st person to send us a picture of the next billboard (Dated Aug 11 or Aug 18) will get a Family Nature Night prize pack in the mail! Hint: it changes tomorrow after our event at Jackie Parker Park!
As part of our biodiversity monitoring program, w/ @ABbiodiversity, we have cameras set up along key wildlife corridors in the County.
We hope you'll join us on @ABMINatureLynx & share your local wildlife sightings! Check out our page for more details.
