The Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA) was created in 1963 with the specific responsibility for flooding problems in Albuquerque.

@ABQFloodControl's Black Mesa 3 Dam Outlet which lies in the South Valley of #Albuquerque was a 10-year ongoing project in an effort to protect the land and people from #flooding. This project won the 2021 ACEC-NM Engineering Excellence Award in the waste and stormwater category!

This 2020 plan updates the 2015 plan and identifies new strategies to reduce vulnerabilities and increase resiliency in our communities. Jurisdictions must update their HMP and submit them to FEMA every 5 yrs in order to be eligible for receiving non-emergency disaster assistance
