You probably don’t remember learning to read. But someone else does.
A teacher remembers you sounding out your first words, perhaps among forty other children in the same classroom. They remember the moment letters began to make sense to you.
They have helped thousands of children reach that moment. Many of those children never think to say thank you.
Today, Nigeria’s public primary schools are short of nearly 200,000 teachers. Some states went as long as five years without recruiting a single new teacher. Those still in the classroom are teaching far more children than any one person should.
At the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation, we know that every effort to improve education depends on the teachers in those classrooms.
So today, we want to say what too many former pupils never got around to saying:
Thank you.
Happy World Teachers’ Day.
The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation wishes to announce that Dr. Audu Musa Idowu is no longer serving as Executive Director of the foundation effective 1st October, 2026.
We are grateful for Dr. Audu’s years of service and the commitment he brought to the Foundation’s work. We thank him for his contributions and wish him well in his next chapter.
As we move forward, our focus remains on the people and communities we serve. We ask our partners and members of the public to direct all enquiries through the Foundation’s official channels.
A gate has one job. It opens.
At 66, a good question to ask about Nigeria is how many of her young people can actually get through.
For many, the only thing in the way is something small, like a school fee or the tools to start a trade. Since 2019, the ABS Foundation has been helping young Nigerians clear those hurdles.
Nigeria has never lacked talent. Our young people just need more gates to open.
This Independence Day, open one for someone. It could be as simple as paying a fee or teaching a skill you already have.
Happy 66th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria. We celebrate with every Nigerian at home and in the diaspora.

Sports is Social and Economic Value⚽💰
Africa's sports economy is valued at around $12 billion, and projected to nearly double to $20 billion by 2035. Yet the continent still captures less than 3% of global sports revenue.
At ABS Foundation, we believe that this is an opportunity waiting to be unlocked. Grassroots sport creates jobs, builds community, and opens real doors for the next generation of talent and sporting entrepreneurs.
Let's back our young talents and build the future. 🇳🇬

Building partnerships for greater impact. 🌍
The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation participated in the African Social Impact Summit (ASIS) 2026 joining development leaders, impact investors, philanthropic organisations, and social innovators from across the continent.
The Summit was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from leading practitioners, and explore strategic partnerships that will strengthen our work across healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, and community development.
At the ABS Foundation, we believe lasting impact is built through collaboration. We look forward to translating these connections into meaningful outcomes for the communities we serve.

I celebrate my Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji @YusuphOlaniyonu, as he turns 60 today.
For over a decade, Yusuph has stood by me with loyalty that cannot be bought. He is a consummate journalist and a man of deep conviction. The past year tested him severely, yet he carried himself with the grace and faith that define him.
As he marks this milestone, I wish him good health and many more years of meaningful service to our country. May Allah (SWT) bless him and his family, and grant them continued peace and protection.
Happy birthday, Yusuph.
