The more you learn about the pioneers on the prairies, the more you appreciate the challenges they overcame to put food on the table and put Alberta on the map. Museums like ours help keep their memory alive and remind us where we came from.
Did you know? This roll of paper with holes in it is a song. Each hole corresponds with a note, which triggers the keys of a piano when activated by a special mechanism.
These rolls were used in self-playing pianos called "player pianos" which were popular in the early 1900s.

Visitors often ask us about our unique dome-shaped building. Our dome was built specifically for this museum, but this type of building used to be marketed for farms in the 1960s.
We invite you to step through time and visit us "under the dome"!

"Camp Gordon" by D.L. Sloan
This camp was located at Pine Lake, Alberta. It was founded in the early 1930s by Gordon Taylor, longstanding MLA for Drumheller, and it operated for over 50 years.
Big thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the Homestead Museum's 60th anniversary at the Tractor Show & Car Show these past two Saturdays, July 12 & 19.
