After my previous post on Instagram on how a liver looked like after it was insulted with alcohol, it was kind of strange to see many people justifying their alcohol consumption with the statement that they only have some beers and never the "hard stuff." I'm not sure why people think beer or wine is a safer form of alcohol. They are all ethanol containing drinks. Ethanol is what harms the body including the liver and it is present in your beer and wine too.
Here is the liver of a middle aged man with alcohol-related cirrhosis (left) who consumed only beers and never the hard stuff. He used to consume around 5 to 8 beers, approx 350ml each almost every week for some years. An additional risk was that he was overweight.
On the right side is a healthy liver, from a donor, a part of which was taken to give the patient with cirrhosis a new lease of life.
The cut portion of the liver will grow to an adult size of around 1.4kg within 4 to 6 weeks. That is how powerful this organ is, when it's healthy.
Try to keep it that way, yes?

@333maheshwariii It is indeed heartbreaking.
The girl deserves appreciation for both demonstrating composure and showing will to 'crack it' next time.
This frustration of parents is more heartbreaking and perhaps even dangerous.
And if the school followed protocol, no need to name-shame it.

This year on #LeprosyDay, department of Dermatology went to a leprosaria, the microcosms that are ignored underbelly of leprosy. People far away from their homes, suffer with disabilities and ulcers that refuse to heal. AIIMS Jodhpur established a conversation exploring solutions, distributed hand, foot care kits, infographic material and honoured them. They are off the register but confined to the margins of the society, in a leprosaria. Meanwhile the will is renewed to fight, to #BeatLeprosy while offering *dignity* to the suffering. @PMOIndia@mansukhmandviya@DrBharatippawar@MoHFW_INDIA
On Leprosy day, we went to a leprosaria. These are the ignored underbelly of leprosy. Inhabited by the marginalised who have completed their t/t . Discussed ways of mitigation of problems. Distributed limb care kits. Honoured them and gave them sweets. #beatleprosy, #DIGNITY
Public going to and fro to the Jodhpur airport are routinely harassed by app based drivers. They bypass the calling line, use their own number to know destination, fare chosen and will ask for cash for entry fee. Worse drop you outside of the airport.#Uber#poorconsumerservices
Medications control or cure diseases. Rarely they cause severe reactions. This Urticaria day some questions posed and many answers pondered over. Ironically what saves lives, can occasionally threaten it too.#urticariaday#health#awareness
