Wish you had my success? Don’t.
Jealousy is a funny thing. We're taught it's bad, yet it's so human. Everyone feels it. To be fair, I’ve had my share.
Sometimes, I'm jealous of Zander of Memorisely (”How can he create such good viral shorts?!”).
Sometimes I'm jealous of Chris Do (”How can he get millions of subscribers worshipping him like a god?!”).
Sometimes I'm jealous of Mizko (”Why does everything he creates look so good?!”)
Sometimes I'm jealous of Tobias Van Schneider (”Why can't I be such a good designer?!”)
The truth is, each of us is different, and has different strengths and weaknesses. I’ve learned this painfully over the years. While I can never be (and achieve) what they have, they can never be and achieve what I have.
The tricky thing is to do is to figure out what is your unique skill. I thought (”wished”) my unique skill was to be an amazing designer, but life showed me I'm actually a better YouTuber and technical instructor.
The way to discover is just to try many things, see what works and what doesn't, and then double down on what works for you—even if that's not what you originally hoped for.
