This is James, Arthur's son, writing on behalf of the Burns family. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Arthur died peacefully in his sleep, at home, with his loved ones close by. He had been ill for the past three years, but faced his cancer with enormous courage and stoicism

Arthur received wonderful care from the neuroendocrine oncology team at Addenbrooke's Hospital, who also help research this type of cancer.
We have been overwhelmed by all your kind messages and tributes to Arthur.
If you wish to make a small donation in his memory, please consider giving to The National Churches Trust or Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (links below).
Thank you.

Arthur loved visiting churches for both research and recreation. Help support the preservation of their buildings and monuments:
We ask for privacy at this time. We will not be responding to messages on here, but we are grateful to everyone keeping Arthur and our family in their thoughts. 3/3

Until the last few days he had been active and mobile. He never waned in his intelligence and kindness towards others. In the coming week(s) we will post charities to which you may donate in memory of Arthur. 2/3

Two weeks today until the export bar on Joshua Reynolds’ Portrait of Omai officially ends. Indications are the bar will be extended, and that co-acquisition with @GettyMuseum is possible. Key is to ensure the painting can be viewed for free around the UK - & can tell Mai’s story.
