"That is mainly because earlier this year we struggled with medium and fast corners compared to the competition. And because our performance in slow corners was better. The difference in power in Malaysia did surprise us in that regard."

Laurent Mekies just spoke to select media, and talked about Max Verstappen's Malaysia victory as he revealed there's still the feeling that Singapore will fit the RB22 more.

He said the team is somewhat "surprised by the pecking order in Malaysia.

"On one side, it's confirming the positive trend now with Monza, Madrid, Baku, and Malaysia, seeming to be adding a little bit of performance at every race, which is great.

"On the other side, is there another factor that has influenced what we have seen in Malaysia, or several other factors?

"Possibly, obviously with the extreme heat and the track roughness and the layout of the track, I'm sure most of the cars out there were out of their ideal operating window.

"Did that affect the pecking order? It's possible. Does it change anything in the way we approach the next race? Not really. We will try to to to adapt as best as we can next, and we'll see." #F1 #SingaporeGP
