Community discussion on the original Assassin’s Creed III on Steam. Exploring the possibility of its return alongside the remaster. Not affiliated with Ubisoft.
One thing I still don’t understand…
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag kept its original version on Steam
Assassin’s Creed Liberation is still available too
But Assassin’s Creed III? Replaced completely.
Why not just give players the choice?
@imbratorX Definitely traditional gameplay for me. The modern-day story felt way more engaging when you were actually part of it instead of just reading about it.
Assassin's Creed 3 (original) was de-listed when they released the Remaster, which I'll remind you, had character models looking like clay.
There's been a lot of morons saying "who cares, the original is still there" in regards to Assassin's Creed Black Flag's changes.
Not just the Bonny shit either, I'm talking everything. The entire game's design is shifted to the RPG model. It won't play like the old one.
They SAID they won't be delisting Black Flag.
But they also said we should get comfortable not owning our games, and they didn't bother listing the original AC3 either nor FIXING the ugly ass character models in the remaster.
So, idk. If you never played the OG and you want it, keep that in mind.
I'm all too used to being told 'stop judging games before they're out yooouuu griifffffter' but I'd buy this over the Remake anyway because better visuals don't make for a better experience.
The shift towards the RPG model is dumbfounding to me. Clips of people swinging at a fucking crocodile or a jaguar 15 times to kill it looks like a rehash of the same mistakes Shadows committed.
@TheDezembro I think that’s why a lot of people care so much about preserving the originals alongside remakes/remasters. Even when improvements are made, the original experience still matters to a lot of fans.
@TheRealZephryss I think most people just want Resynced to feel faithful to what made the original Black Flag special while still improving things technically.
You may have seen almost every Black Flag Resynced preview talk about the robotic RPG cutscenes with the new Lucy Baldwin quest, but you might not realize this will be the case with the main story too. And I worry this is just the first of many examples.
In the original game, right after you walk with Blackbeard and Hornigold discussing medicine for Nassau, you buy the bell and immediately sail off to dive for the medicine. But in Resynced, they added a new main story cutscene where Edward and Adewale discuss different ways to acquire a diving bell.
Now let me just say, the idea itself is GREAT. Having multiple ways to get the diving bell is a FANTASTIC addition to the game... BUT modern Ubisoft strikes again. Edward and Adewale appear like robots, and it has that same stiff RPG conversation style every preview already criticized in the Lucy quest. And if this is happening here in the main story, then I do expect more new main story cutscenes like this throughout the game whenever it branches into different approaches, similar to this where we have different ways to get the diving bell.
Now to those who dismiss this criticism as mere complaining. Please I beg you, block me. You are not who I want interacting with my posts or videos. Demanding accountability is the only way to restore the series' past quality.
@EmissaryCmmndnt@RavenMentore I really thought they were going to lean harder into the Animus aesthetic and immersion side of things with it honestly 😭
I've been asking Ubisoft for ages and ages through feedback within the current franchise If we could have a modern and classic HUD toggle, so most of us can feel like we're actually immersed within the animus, and most of us classic audience love the original HUD because it felt immersive, innovative and felt like the HUD actually breathed, like the animus updated.
But when i asked, i was completely ignored on behalf of the classic audience.
Interchangeable HUD toggle so you can switch between the modern and classic experience and still felt like it was the animus.

Haytham Kenway and Connor Kenway rooftop scene in Assassin's Creed 3
This moment is one of my favorites and I really miss these types of conversations in recent games.
@RinoTheBouncer@imdemente If true, I just hope they handle Ezio carefully and don’t use him purely for nostalgia bait. The Hexe setting already sounds interesting enough on its own honestly.
@TheHiddenOneAC I’d say no honestly. It was self defence and Connor clearly didn’t want it to end that way. Achilles even says the Assassins don’t make a habit of killing innocents, not that every situation is completely black and white.
Did You Know:
Kevin Mcnally Played both a advisor/Quartermaster to jack sparrow, as Gibbs and Faulkner In ACIII - As Connors Quartermaster/Advisor aswell, providing the same if not similar likeness, and his voice/character to both roles.
Once a pirate, always a pirate.
