Circular economy scales through procurement reform.
Public purchasing power shapes markets more than policy speeches.
When governments buy linear, markets stay linear.
Circular growth is a purchasing decision.
Waste-to-energy projects don’t fail because of technology.
They fail because of framing.
When positioned as environmental clean-up initiatives, they attract short-term or limited funding.
When structured as utility infrastructure assets, they attract institutional capital.
Most conflicts are fought over resources that can be taken.
Oil can be seized.
Gas can be sanctioned.
Minerals can be weaponised.
Geothermal energy cannot.

Africa is rich in raw materials, from minerals to agriculture, but often exports them unprocessed. Manufacturing captures more value locally, transforming raw resources into globally competitive products that generate higher incomes and economic stability.
Many smallholder farmers struggle to afford seeds, fertilizers, or mechanization tools. Without access to credit or digital platforms, they remain excluded from competitive markets. Unlocking agricultural finance & supporting tech adoption can empower farmers to scale production
Africa loses up to 40% of its food post-harvest, much of which becomes waste. Recycling organic waste into compost, biofertilizers, and biogas not only reduces landfill pollution but also boosts agricultural productivity and provides clean energy for communities.
Africa's energy systems are under strain due to the continent's rapid urbanisation, as buildings can consume up to 60% of generated electricity. Energy-efficient building designs that optimise insulation, natural light, and ventilation can significantly reduce power use
Efficient transportation is the foundation of Africa’s economic growth and regional integration. Roads, railways, ports, and airports determine how quickly goods, services, and people move across borders. To succeed, Africa must modernize its transport systems
Despite producing abundant raw crops, Africa exports much of it unprocessed, losing billions in potential value. Agro-processing — turning cocoa into chocolate, or maize into flour, allows African nations to keep wealth within the continent, create jobs, & build strong industries

Looking back at Day 3 of #IATF2025, the focus was on building Africa’s capacity from within.
The day began with a call to see every connection as the spark for Africa’s next breakthrough. Conversations centred on strengthening Africa’s financial institutions, advancing #AfCFTA implementation, and scaling innovations that can drive Agenda 2063.
At the @DangoteGroup Day sessions, business leaders shared how investments in cement, fertilizer, sugar, and packaging are helping Africa shift from exporting raw materials to producing and adding value at home. A line that captured the day? “Built by an African, for Africa” – Mr Leonard Segooa. A vision that represents both self-sufficiency and long-term development potential.
The IATF Development Impact Report launch reiterated the fair's expanded value beyond its role as a marketplace. The fair serves as a platform which enables trade agreements, cross-border partnerships and job creation translate into measurable progress across the continent.
Day three was about turning ideas into action and stories into strategy. As we look ahead to #IATF2027, how do you see this momentum shaping the continent’s future?
