@danparkin10x Agreed. Personally what I think he should’ve done was to just replace it with a single lock linked to inflation. He might as well just deal with the whole issue in one clean swoop.
Burnham seems to have come out of the triple lock thing completely unscathed. Remarkable given how the winter fuel allowance debacle managed to nuke Starmer’s premiership entirely.
@a_brns_ Perhaps although I am worried that the other parties will campaign heavily on keeping the triple lock at the next election. I also think he’s benefiting from the fact that a lot of people don’t really know how the triple lock works.
@danparkin10x True. If Burnham fails to win a majority at thise next election then the policy probably does get dropped. Also when this election does come around the Tories, Reform & Greens will all use the “you hate pensioners” line as a stick to beat him with.
@AFC_Abdul1 It definitely accelerated things but they were already well off the pace in the Premier League for the last few years of Abramovic’s tenure.
This is all true. As much as we all enjoy laughing at Todd Boehly’s Chelsea the rot has already started to set in towards the back end of the Abramovic era.
Just a reminder, ZERO prem wins at etihad infront of a crowd since 16/17, ZERO prem wins at anfield infront of a crowd since 14/15, ZERO wins at Old Trafford just in general since 12/13. Zero top 2 finishes since 16/17. 7 domestic final loses and ZERO domestic trophies since 2018
@Jake___2003 Definitely some truth to this. I feel like people were looking for reasons to hate Starmer in a way that they aren’t quite doing the same for Burnham.
@HPJSCFC The stuff about academia leaning to the left is largely true - I just don’t think that has a major influence on the politics of their students. Most degrees aren’t that political.
The reason why students tend tend to be more left wing than non students has a lot more to do with tuition fees than it does with anything that they’re actually taught in lectures. The indoctrination factories line that the right trot out is largely a myth.
