I see Edinburgh Council has added some of these daft metal bollards in Corstorphine. An elderly man almost tripped over one, he didn't see it until the last minute.
The long-awaited Aberdeen Bus Gates statutory appeal will be heard today in the Court of Session. The hearing starts at 1030. A synopsis and live stream can be found here https://t.co/A3kcLzAS6Z
The City of Edinburgh Council squandered almost £40,000 of taxpayers’ money on the now-removed Manse Road bus gate - an ill-conceived part of the £800k+ Corstorphine Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) that residents repeatedly said they did not want. 1/6
A polling expert rubbished the market research, confirming that it had failed to accurately reflect local opinion, gave a one-sided presentation of arguments, and its claims could not stand up to analysis. 5/6
Extensive coverage in the rest of the media of the Times exclusive about Transport for London and Rachel Aldred's attempts to bury her study that found LTNs do not cut car use. Nothing, of course, from the Guardian's Peter Walker, the great cheerleader for LTNs.

Yesterday's LTN victory by the West Dulwich residents well covered in today's media. Here's a selection:

It appears that the LTN in West Dulwich was quashed for the same reason as the Manse Road Bus Gate in Edinburgh - it relocated traffic rather than reduce it.
Who woulda thunk it.
Humiliation for Lambeth Council today as judge rules it must:
– Tear down the West Dulwich LTN which it implemented unlawfully by ignoring residents’ legitimate concerns
– Pay campaigners' court costs (£35k)
The judge also blocked Lambeth from appealing

BIG BREAKING NEWS: The judge in the West Dulwich case. Just announced judge has refused to allow Lambeth to appeal. Judgment still stands. LTN quashed with immediate effect. Council to pay up to £35k in legal costs.
Watch this! A quiet but devastating analysis of the flaws of the consultation undertaken about the Corstorphine LTN in Edinburgh. It will ring bells in other places as well.

Despite Council officials urging committee members to disregard 600 objections and make the entire LTN permanent, members pushed back against the recommendation and unraveled the Council’s false claims:
My committees TRO sub-committee has just voted to approve the Corstorphine Connections LTN project with the exception of the controversial Manse Road Bus Gate. I’m satisfied that the right decision was reached today based on evidence, data and listening to local residents.
@JohnfaeScotland The Council claimed that the LTN had improved air quality.
❌ FALSE: claim not supported by the 12mth monitoring data. The Integrated Impact Assessment also identified no improvement in air quality - any small improvement would be result of changes to fleet composition.
Today, they voted to scrap the Manse Road bus gate and heed the voices of the Corstorphine community, who have consistently and clearly opposed this deeply flawed scheme.
Members of the TRO Sub-Committee recognised what we have long known: the Council's handling of the trial LTN has been woefully inept, using misleading data to falsely portray support and justify an unwanted scheme.
