Here is my list of things I teach my swimmers every season.
1. Attendance matters but you don't get rewarded for just being here.
2. Being kind will get you further with me than being talented. Who you are matters to me more than what you can do.
3. Never knock someone down who is working hard.
4. It's not "cool" to be lazy. If you enjoy being lazy, I'm not the right coach for you. No one wants to hear how easy that set was for you or how you didn't try on that race.
5. Swimming fast is fun. When we get to our champs meet and see how much progress you made you will know the hard work was worth it.
6. No pity parties.
7. The younger athletes are watching you. Act like it.
What's one of your BIG things each season?
