DHS: "U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection will not conduct enforcement operations at or near vaccine distribution sites or clinics."
On day one, President Biden released plans for executive actions and an immigration bill. This is the right focus, and could not be more urgent here in Texas. We look forward to working with the administration to write a bold, new chapter for our border communities.
It is unconscionable that Trump would travel to the border communities his administration has been attacking for four years to celebrate the wall and his racist anti-immigrant legacy.
We stand firmly with the people of the RGV in opposition to his visit. https://t.co/xT64oq7Akd
🗣️A border policy that restores the civil rights of border communities *and* upholds our values requires an end to walls, wasteful militarization, intrusive surveillance technology, and pulls Border Patrol's policing presence from U.S. communities. https://t.co/Z21A2catOO
New story: The Trump administration is deporting women who have reported abuse by a Georgia gynecologist in immigration custody, potentially endangering a future investigation into the women's claims.

I've spent this year watching the places I love most in the world be bulldozed for the border wall. Sometimes I feel like I'm screaming from the top of my lungs, alone in the wilderness, about this travesty.
But today, my words in @nytimes tell the story:https://t.co/o6QH4ABtW9

Border Patrol’s presence and intimidation tactics have no place at healthcare facilities.

Last week, Border Patrol arrested a 15-year-old girl after undergoing surgery at a Texas hospital. Despite living in the U.S. her entire life, she now faces deportation.
No one should fear deportation for seeking healthcare, especially during a pandemic.

Border Patrol has previously preyed on vulnerable children in need of medical care beyond CBP checkpoints.
In 2017, CBP detained 10 yr old Rosa Maria at a checkpoint on her way to surgery.
No one should fear deportation for seeking health care, especially during a pandemic.
CBP has no place in hospitals and Border Patrol checkpoints have no place in our border region.
This child should be released immediately and Border Patrol held accountable for its actions.
¡Ya llegamos a la última semana del Censo!
Te invito este miércoles a las 5 p.m. (El Paso) y 6 p.m. (RGV) a nuestro evento en Facebook Live para la comunidad latinx de Texas:

The news of the death of a migrant while in @CBPArizona custody is tragic and our thoughts are with his loved ones. Countless men, women, and children have died under the federal government’s custody and it highlights how dire the conditions in CBP’s facilities are.
