I don't get why some people seem to be so fixated on debating whether AI has some degree of consciousness when we're not even able to tell whether other humans are conscious or have feelings to start with
Some might say, "you don't have to use the new one". But the expectations have changed. If you wanna be competitive in a rough job market, you don't have much of a choice...
Can we talk about "model inflation" yet?
The idea that mainstream models are becoming more powerful — and expensive. So if the average "basket" of AI was Claude Sonnet at $5 per month last year, now it's Fable (replace by newest model) at 10x the cost.
@nabeelqu I'm not sure I see the problem. Sure, that looks like Claude, but it's better than most things I'd write... Claude has learned from our own writing so it's only learned to imitate our own templates that have been effective and "good writing examples" before
Is AI dating apps? A new technology that sounds cool, it's gonna make life easier. Then everyone starts using them and the field levels out. But at that point you're trapped cause that's how society works now. What used to be free is now paid. And people grow sour on it.
@rosmine I agree that model outputs can be repetitive and low-entropy... But it's easy to fool any detector just by generating garbage - if it's not in the training distribution it will evade them - but that doesn't mean it's good text. I guess I'd love to know more about the idea though!
