Property developers being able to donate to politicians is leaving the public unable to trust whose interests Governments prioritise in the housing crisis.
I met with my constituent Elizabeth and @ACORNunion in support of @CHinchliffMP’s campaign to have this banned.
Just to confirm that as the new Leader of @lambeth_council, neither I nor any member of Lambeth's Cabinet will be jetting out to Cannes for this Corporate housing conference.
Refunds will be sought where possible

Yesterday ACORN members joined @CHinchliffMP to lobby MPs to back legislation to ban property developers from donating to political parties. Political parties take millions off of property developers to gain access of influence over our politicians
The level of failure in our housing system is getting absurd.
Continuing to rely on overpriced new builds with rip-off service fees is going to bring the whole pack of cards crashing down.
We need homes for those who can't afford them, not assets for the super rich.
Unfortunately it doesn’t stop at the head. There’s a systemic and morally corrupt culture within that council.
They need an absolute clear out of staff, sooner rather than later.
Our mayoral, council and Senedd campaigns were rooted in fighting to end the housing affordability crisis, and voters have spoken. We need action to end rip-off rents now.
So newly elected Green Mayors @ZoeGarbett and @LiamShrivastava alongside Carla Denyer MP have written to the government to demand a Rent Controls Bill in the King’s Speech tomorrow.
Candidates from across Wales have backed ACORN's People's Platform🔥🔥
This is an an opportunity for accountability - the promises candidates make now are the changes we expect to see if they win the election.
If you don't see your candidate, drop them a line - ask them why they haven't pledged to support a fairer, more affordable Wales!🏴🏴
🚨Renters, know your rights!
The upcoming end of fixed term contracts means more security and control for tenants. Your home won’t just come with an expiry date anymore.
Always such a stark example of failure of our housing policy. Billions going into hands of greedy private landlords, which could be spent on social housing. Such a waste!
Can't think of many better illustrations of how badly we have botched housing policy than the fact that our bill for housing homeless families (£2.8bn pa) is now higher than the money we spend each year on new affordable housing (£2.3bn)

Rent freeze? Commercial rent freeze to help small businesses? Debt relief? Freeze/cancel student loans? Cap energy/water bills? Cheaper transport? Tax cuts on middle/lower incomes? Look forward to some of these levers being pulled!
This government will continue to pull every lever possible to support you with the cost of living.
We are working together with leaders across the energy, finance and insurance sectors to protect the British people from the impact of conflict in the Middle East.
Tune in this evening to BBC Radio 4 at 6:30pm where the issues affecting our members, tenants of the @PoppyFactory will be featured…

One in six private renters is now renting a former council home, often at extortionate rates – and often partly paid for by the government in the form of housing benefit.
It's not just deeply unfair - it economically doesn't make any sense.

Nearly HALF of purpose built blocks of flats are failing fire safety checks.
We have repeatedly seen that this is literally a matter of life and death. Yet building managers are neglecting their duty, cutting corners, and putting people’s lives at risk.
So it turns out several Labour MPs have been taking donations from billionaire landlord Asif Aziz who is mass evicting people across London - who would have thought! https://t.co/aZvFYD4Xp1
@56aInfoshop Still waiting for them to enact their 'zero tolerance' enforcement policy on Rachel Reeves and their cabinet member for illegally renting out properties!
