@SHL0MS She mentions the piece once and describes it as failing to introduce “something that is new or perceptually transformative” in a contemporary context
Which is true in virtue of it being a Monet (in as much as it would be if it had been a copy)
@SHL0MS Her take isn’t undermined by the misidentification
At this point ur experiment has devolved into a mindlessness that tells us more about Twitter than it does about gen AI discourse
@David_Rudnick the reference point for new gen, the 11yo you mention, is Mitsein. Even if music, as understood today, is obsoleted through “synthetic solipsism”, a new shared media will emerge from a desire to supplant an absence of it
there is no mode one can adopt that isn’t inherently authentic, I think here we agree
i still think it’s useful to interrogate the possibility of authenticity as useful motivational construct - and that framing authenticity as “effortless” will be misinterpreted by your audience as a phenomenological observation, one that reinforces their aversions to friction
@David_Rudnick@bmblackmidi@RoughTrade my first encounter with your BM collection was utterly devastating - like Salieri, though perhaps then I was not even worthy of understanding the extent of my own mediocrity
