My dorkiest opinion is that the language of Shakespeare actually slaps, and it’s not hard to understand if you find a decent audio recording or screen adaptation. If you invite a few friends over for drinks and a Shakespeare-reading, you will have the time of your life. (1/3)

Hollywood used to class up its big-budget movies by casting seasoned British actors to play Shakespeare-quoting baddies, but now Hollywood fears alienating teenage boys if a book is mentioned. Make baddies cultured again.

I remember someone marveling about how Jonathan Edwards spent 13 hours a day in his study. I’ve never been comfortable with that as a model.

Sadly, Edwards was only able to spend countless hours working in his study because others spent countless hours working in his fields.

My favorite thing is folks who complain about they/them pronouns being grammatically impossible for a person to claim, and then say things like “If you like somebody, tell them.” 🙄🤦‍♀️

@mrdavidrowe It can be hard to stay engaged across an entire service if you understand none of the language, but it is such a gift to be welcomed as the outsider into a language, culture and/or practice that I wouldn’t normally be a part of. It’s a beautifully humbling opportunity to learn.
