We have only about 50,000 doctors serving over 200 million people. That's 1 Doctor to over 4,000 patients.

You'd expect every doctor willing to serve to be encouraged.

Another 238 young doctors who returned home to practise wake up to an unexplained increase in their induction fees from ₦265,000 to over ₦415,000.

Yesterday, I made a post about the security man in my office plaza and how we raised money for him on his birthday. Instead of using the money to repair his phone that had fallen into water, he spent it all taking care of his family’s needs.

Immediately after the tweet blew up, one of my mutuals sent me a DM asking how much it would cost to fix Baba’s phone. I told him I would find out.

When I got to work today, I asked Baba to give me the phone so I could get it repaired. He refused at first, saying I had already done enough for him and that he didn’t want to be a burden. In his words

“I no carry you come Lagos. No dey spend all your money like that. You go pay house rent and chop food.”🥹

I told him my brother wanted to repair it for free. After a lot of convincing, he finally handed over the phone.

I took it to a phone engineer, and after inspecting it, he called me to explain everything that needed to be replaced. I told him to fix all of it.

Right now, the phone is with me, fully repaired. Every damaged part has been replaced. My mutual paid the entire bill and even sent extra money.

I honestly can’t wait to see Baba’s face tomorrow when I hand it back to him. I just can’t wait.
