GOVERNOR OYEBANJI SUSPENDS DAYO IBIJOWO (IJAYA).

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has announced immediate suspension from office of Mr Dayo Ibijowo ( aka Ijaya), following his arrest on Thursday by men of the Rapid Respond Squad (RRS) in connection with alleged armed thuggery.

Ibijowo, an appointee of the Governor, is one of the 11 suspected armed thugs arrested in Ikun- Ekiti and paraded by the police on Friday.

Police authorities said they were hired by a serving member of the House of Representatives to disrupt the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary slated for Saturday.

According to a statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, Ibijowo will remain suspended pending the completion of investigation into the thuggery case.

Ibijowo’s suspension underscores the BAO Administration’s zero tolerance for any act of lawlessness and criminality.

Governor Oyebanji on Wednesday concluded a violence- free campaign tour of the 16 local government areas of the state, where he repeatedly emphasized the need for peaceful conduct amongst politicians and supporters of political parties during and after the electioneering season.

Reinterating his earlier appeal to residents and other contestants in the State to maintain the peace, Governor Oyebanji says no act of criminality will be tolerated.

OSUN APC MUST LEARN TO RESPECT HONEST LABOUR AND THE DIGNITY OF CITIZENS

It is unfortunate, reckless, and deeply insensitive that the Director General of the Osun APC Campaign would publicly make statements suggesting that children attending public schools are there because their parents did not work hard enough or failed to make good use of their youth.

Such comments are arrogant, insulting, elitist, and completely disconnected from the realities of millions of honest and hardworking Nigerians whose children attend public schools, not because they are lazy, but because they believe in dignity, responsibility, sacrifice, and honest labour.

Teachers, civil servants, traders, artisans, farmers, and ordinary workers who struggle daily to raise their families deserve respect, not mockery from politicians who suddenly speak as though wealth alone determines human value and social relevance.

Public schools are not institutions for failures. They are products of government responsibility and should be institutions every responsible leader is proud to strengthen, improve, and invest in, not platforms for careless political arrogance and class mockery.

What makes the statement even more shameful is that it came from a man with no credible record of exceptional public distinction attached to his name, no evidence of institutional impact, no legacy of innovation, no recognised professional excellence, and no landmark contribution to national development outside politics and public office. All he earned has been from Politics.

A man whose entire public relevance and visibility came through political appointments should be the last person to insult struggling Nigerians and hardworking citizens trying to build decent lives for their children.

Leadership requires empathy, humility, emotional intelligence, and respect for the people, not elitist arrogance, class superiority, and careless statements that demean ordinary families.

The Osun APC must understand that governance is about service to the people, not public display of privilege, arrogance, and social detachment from the realities of citizens.
