Undercover deputies from the Kent County Sheriffโs Office arrested a man in Michigan during a sting operation involving an alleged scam to defraud an elderly woman out of $700,000.
The sheriffโs department was originally alerted to the alleged scam when a coin shop owner reported that a 79-year-old woman had come in seeking to convert her life savings into gold coins.
Following his arrest, the scammer was detained at the Kent County jail, with a $100,000 bond and an ICE detainer in place.
