ADHD is getting the flu, forgetting you have to go outside everyday in winter or you get seasonal affective disorder immediately, and then impulsively booking a weekend trip to Italy to cure it.
Canโt stress enough how much ADHD symptoms improve when you give up trying to change yourself, and start accepting yourself and meeting yourself where you are right now.
@atgarone@ADHD_weirdo_ Like anything, itโs a balance. When your entire life doesnโt feel safe, sometimes introducing a bit more comfort zone into your life works.
But ofc, there is a risk of going to far with it and limiting your life too much.
My entire productivity and task management system relies on being able to always write down whatโs on my mind within seconds, tbh
It all falls apart when I canโt do this, for whatever reason
@DudeAdhd Absolutely not the patientsโ fault! For many who choose to get diagnosed privately, their NHS GPs were the ones who suggested it due to the ridiculously long public waitlists as the ONLY available option to get treatment.
There is no other option for many in this country.
GPs, withdrawing NHS support for shared care ADHD treatment for people diagnosed privately DOES NOT improve those patientsโ standard of care.
What are you doing???
How is this the best way forward for dealing with this broken system? How is this helping

@DopaminePlsMe Literally. The fact that a lot of ADHDers feel even more disabled and debilitated on their days off says a lot about how this affects people!
@DudeAdhd Brilliant read, esp as someone who moved to the UK from Canada as an adult, and has difficulty understanding WHY the ADHD services in this country are so poor compared to Canada and the US
@libriscent@hi_its_annaleah Stop because this is my response anytime someone says this to me.
โThx, but I didnโt really have a choice, it was this orโฆ?โ
People are desperate for treatment that is proven to genuinely change the lives of people with ADHD for the better, but which in the UK is denied to them unless they push with an unfathomable strength for years (and this is AFTER a diagnosis!)
@DudeAdhd The way the UK gatekeeps ADHD medication is costing people lives. Any argument they have about how โdangerousโ ADHD medication is, is ridiculous compared to how dangerous leaving people untreated for years and years is.
Train GPs to prescribe and titrate. Itโs not that difficult
@faisalislam@FLOTUK As someone who has lived in both the US and the UK, when British people try to compare safety in London vs any US city Iโm always like no. No, thereโs no comparison at all.
The level of safety in London is so much better. Aside from having to watch your phone on the street
@parasocialyte@annebetpedersen I fear itโs too late. These companies rake in vast amounts of money and then befriend politicians to the point they wonโt do a thing about it.
Does anyone on here with ADHD use an Oura ring? Curious to know if your daily stress charts look like this a lot like mine do, or if itโs just a separate issue I have.
