A/AA Boys Rugby @theEOSSAA yesterday between Arnprior DHS and LaSalle went the Black Knights way by a score of 48 - 7. Good luck to a strong LaSalle side at OFSAA next week and a young ADHS squad looks forward to next spring.
That's a wrap for Spring 2022. From having four players who had played before when we started training in February after a two year COVID break to playing very competitively against the province's best at A/AA OFSAA in June - quite the ride! On to Spring 2023!
The boys have been busy in the last week with very close and competitive clashes against Central/ Eastern Ontario powerhouses Centennial (Belleville) and Glebe (Ottawa).
For the first time since May 29, 2019 the red, white, and black hit the rugby pitch last week. The boys put in a strong effort resulting in a solid victory over Sacred Heart in Stittsville.
Two great “Intro to Rugby” sessions at Walter Zadow today. Thanks to Kaylen, Kyle, and Montana for helping out today. Some very promising young rugby players on the way up ...
Great “Intro to Rugby” session this afternoon at McNab Public School. Thanks to Ben and Seth for coming out to encourage the next generation of ADHS Boys Rugby players. 🏉
Kaylen Proulx and Nathan Beaubien attended the uOttawa Gee Gees High School Boys Rugby All Star event this weekend. Well done to both and a fun way to wrap up the high school season. @geegees_mrugby
The boys went down to Frontenac 40 - 10 at A/AA @theEOSSAA, but put in a great effort. For a brand new team and group of players who literally picked up a ball for the first time this winter it's been a great season of testing ourselves against the best teams in Eastern Ontario.
The ADHS Boys put forth a valiant effort, but ran into a clinical Ashbury squad that ruthlessly exploited every opportunity. Despite the score of 67 - 0 in favour of Ashbury, the ADHS Boys have plenty of positives to take into our preparation for A/AA EOSSAA.
Rugby came to Canada in the 1800s and by the early 1900s a North American hybrid was being played alongside “traditional” rugby. This ADHS team in 1927 was playing this hybrid sport. 92 years on ADHS boys are back - but we’re back to the 15 person game played globally.
In a real “arm wrestle” against one of Ottawa’s top rugby programs, the boys fell 15 - 5 to Sacred Heart in a very tightly contested match. With each match the level of play rises from the squad and our EOSSAA preparation is firmly on track.
Hard fought match vs St Peter today. The boys went down 35 - 15, but showed tenacious defence and power on attack against a squad that is a perennial contender for the Ottawa city championship. Thanks to @spkboysrugby for their great sportsmanship and post-match hospitality.
First ever action for ADHS Boys Rugby yesterday at the Carleton tourney - opening win over Bayside and tight losses to Gloucester (@Gatorrugby1) and Ridgemont. Special mention to @Bayside_RFC for their sportsmanship to gather for a collective photo after our first ever match.
Nine straight! Showing resilience to bounce back from ADHS’s first loss since 2009 in UOVHSAA play two weeks ago, the girls dominated in the championship final today. Congratulations to all players and thanks to coaches Mr Schneider and Mr Craig Moore for their effort.
Mr. Schneider and his ADHS Rapids Girls Rugby team hit the pitch this week.

After 9 years as Head Coach Mr Wallace stepped away from the program in June. Mr Schneider has assumed the role of Head Coach for this coming season and beyond. New players / returning players should touch base with him. @ArnpriorDHS
