Here is a glimpse into the work we did in the art room this year in 7th grade. 7th graders had art for an entire semester and accomplished amazing things!

This week, students used Google Slides to make spaces in which they could display their work. We talked about how the choices we make in the art making process often communicate a message or meaning, and discussed how our spaces can support our goals!
This drypoint print documents a students perspective on a historical event. This student selected Pearl Harbor. The printing process allows us to make multiples while experimenting with color. Which one is your favorite?
Check out these awesome drypoint prints! These prints were created using an intaglio process that involves creating a drawing into a surface like plastic. Ink is applied to the surface of the plate but then removed in a way that leaves ink in the grooves. Messy but so fun!
It's fun to teach different types of printmaking and let students make choices about what method works best for their unique idea. I hope to share the results of our printmaking endeavors soon!
Check out this cool mixed media self-portrait! This 6th grader surrounded himself in characters from his imagination to give us a glimpse inside his head π
You might notice that this page now features the artwork of some older ADM tigers as Mrs. Ostrander is now at the Middle School. For updates on art at Adel Elementary and De Soto Intermediate, check out Miss Lewis' Instagram page: @tiger_artists_adm!
Check out this neat tunnel book! It gives viewers a sense of depth and perspective. I appreciate the artist's use of repetitive color! #admmiddleschool#admartists
