Depending upon the size of your accounts with Fidelity, call them and ask them if they can lower your margin rate. Tell them you will likely have to move your assets if not and that you are looking at an Interactive Brokers Pro account. Google their rates which are currently between 5.38% and 4.38% depending on margin balance to know your number. Tell them you would consider bringing more assets if you can bring the rate down. If your account is large enough they should work you (most brokers do). They won't match IBKR Pro rates but they can get much closer (I.e. .75 - 1%) above IBKR Pro. If they don't work with you then I would definitely move to Schwab or IBKR. Schwab will negotiate if your account is large enough. Trading tools and after hours trading is better with either one versus Fidelity as well imho. Good luck.
Do you see reaching a point where it becomes impractical to add more companies and still be able to follow to the depth you would like or is it just a question of scaling your team? I'm already amazed at how many you cover and wonder if there is a practical limit whether it's team expertise or your time?
To use Elon's words to describe HC, 2026 was “Epic” and I expect 2027 to be “Ridiculous”.
Day 1, first hour member here. As good as 2026 has been for HC members, I expect 2027 will actually be much better and 2026 would have even been higher if not for:
- Many people joined HC with mispositioned portfolio which takes a while to realign (i.e. wrong assets one is attached to or sitting on large gains people hold too long to avoid taxes)
- All the tools developed for HC did not even exist on day one. And even when they existed, it takes most people several months to truly appreciate, understand, and use effectively. (The tools are truly impressive)
- The number of companies covered has expanded greatly since the beginning, increasing trading opportunities and reducing FOMO of missing the one big trade.
- Lastly, 2026 was only a partial year. Hard to believe it has only been 6 months.
Others can obviously make great returns outside of HC and I wish all the best, but I think a final point which is greatly underappreciated is how to do it reliably while minimizing one's portfolio risk. Many here bet big and did well on Tesla, Nvidia, Micron, Palantir, AMD, or any number of a dozen other names, but people often don't realize just how much risk they are taking on, even in great companies.
I do truly expect 2027 to be ridiculous…
Logical and fully support.
I think people join HC and probably are not prepared for drinking from the firehose and can't keep up with all the portfolio repositioning you do yet feel FOMO if they don't.
To newcomers here, I would say slow down and understand it will always be impossible match AJ for a variety of reasons previously mentioned but that doesn't mean you won't still have crazy returns, less stress and risk taking, taking even half the trades. As AJ and others have said, it takes a while to "get it" but eventually it does starts to feel like things are on autopilot.
AJ - I've noticed you have been posting your average price level for a stock more often recently on buys/sells. Not sure if this is deliberate and actually true or maybe I'm just more attuned to noticing it now. Either way, I've actually found this way more useful and informative than any portfolio stock weightings or position sizing information.
@alojohhardcore@Robyn3rfw@fib618nyc Not sure if you tweaked anything overnight as there was no change on my side, but today I now seem to be receiving the email alerts.
All good here for me now...thx!
Definitely, nice to see after the recent beat down.
~16% at time of original post but closed day at 11.2% due to the end of day fades.
There must truly be some kind of disturbance in the force for me to actually have a higher daily return than AJ. However, I know I'm still not optimally positioned though I'm slowly improving. This coupled with always lagging market moves a bit and not being able to catch most of the sweet premarket moves results in a lot of missed alpha.
I figure achieving 50-75% of your returns on average would be akin to playing soccer 50-75% as well as Messi. Not too shabby for mere mortals.
Lists are certainly helpful, but the problem is that you have to constantly keep going back and rereading the same threads over and over again.
In your example, if the speech bubble increments from 4 to 5 an hour after you took that screen shot you would have to go back and open it yet again to scan "just in case" #5 was an AJ reply. Then two hours later if it increments more you have to keep repeating. It's mostly ok for US folks reading later in our day as AJ's posts wind down, but still a pain to have to go through on a platform trying to be the global town center.
@alojohhardcore I have a blue check and the search is also broken for me now although it worked 6-8 hours ago. Search also broke for about 24 hours a couple of days ago so I think they just have ongoing problems on their end. Seems like a pretty basic function to have trouble with.
@alojohhardcore Doing what one loves is never actually work, however, don't ever feel guilty taking a week or two off occasionally to spend time with the family as occasions arise. I'm sure everyone here will understand and support.
I have that exact same List on top also and it is helpful, but it does not show all posts which is the problem. If AJ replies to a post from two days ago which you already read you will never see it unless you continually go back and reread full post threads over and over again or you get lucky and someone else replies to his reply triggering it to shows up in your feed.
Another thing I have found personally helpful is to create a crude running log of everything I read on HC that I think is somehow noteworthy for the day; literally as a single running log.
Some days there is nothing, other days there could be 10-12 entries. I find the list very easy to scan to see the evolution of positions, risk, macro concerns, etc over time. Bookmarks quickly proved worthless for retrospective analysis. I'm sure there is a better way to export and automate this but for now it's well worth the additional 1-2 minutes a day I add while reading posts.
Below is an example of just two days in early June...
